There is increasing interest in technologies that allow the parallel
quantitation of proteins in an efficient and cost-effective format.
To supplement the methods currently available for protein detection
and identification, we are developing protein microarrays that allow
the simultaneous measurement of proteins in complex samples such as
human serum. These profiles of global protein expression complement
the data obtained from DNA/RNA microarrays and have wide applications
in characterizing human disease, evaluating response to pharmaceutical
agents, and assessing gene function.
